The process of reviewing all links pointing to your website to find harmful or low-quality ones.
Anchor Text
The clickable text in a hyperlink. Search engines use it to understand what the linked page is about.
DoFollow vs NoFollow
DoFollow links pass ranking power. NoFollow links tell search engines not to count the link for rankings.
Referring Domain
A unique website that has at least one backlink pointing to your site.
Negative SEO
When someone deliberately builds spammy backlinks to your site to hurt your search rankings.
Link Farm
A network of websites created solely to generate backlinks. Google considers these manipulative and penalises them.
Private Blog Network (PBN)
A group of websites owned by one person used to build backlinks to a main site. Violates Google guidelines.
Spam Score
A metric that estimates how likely a website is to be penalised by search engines based on spam signals.
Google Search Console
A free Google tool that lets you monitor your site in search results, submit sitemaps, and upload disavow files.
